In the URL of each YouTube video is the 11-character video ID, unique for each video. Can they ever run out? Just how many videos can YouTube handle? To work it out, we need to talk about counting systems, and about something called Base 64.

Funny thing, after 9 years:
-we have more people on the planet
-we have more gadgets per person (not only PCs, but smartphones, tablets, dash cameras, etc.)
-we have more than one account to google and youtube (usually)
-we have AIs, agents, LLM that can create videos…
—-
after another 9 years we'll probably have a real AI and more video sources, so even quadrillions of Base64 will become obsolete.
youtubes doesnt check for bad words btw

I have made a fictional base 67 system, the same as 64, but with equals, underscore and minus.
