6. I have been swamped with telemaketer calls trying to sell me "Medicare" plans for several weeks now. My only insurance is Medcare A – for which II do not pay premiums because I paid taxes for it prior to my retirement. I qualify for Medicaid but I dis-enrolled 2 years ago because my state's Dept of Health Care Policy & Finance informed me that my property would be seized at my death to pay the state back. I live in a house I built myself (not a contractor) and have no mortage, but I would not be able to leave this house to my offspring when I die if I accept Fed/state paid healthcare. I do not go to doctors anymore & take care of my health the best I can with good dier, vitamins and staying active.

   We fo not have a health care system. Instead we have a for profit medical industry. And the problem will not be resolved until a way is figured out to restore independence to doctors, to sweep this industry clean of greed & corruption, and to stop insurance companies' predatory activities that improve their bottom lines while totally failing to impove our health.
   I am healthier since I quit Medivaid and the nedless rounds of dr visits, tests, and medicnes that never made any difference. I felt, when I was on Medicaid that I was a slab of meat on a conveyor belt that the for-profit medical industry used to make more profits. Have you noticed that there are few if any private doctors any more? They're almost all eaten up by big medical centers run by corporations for profit!.

   A family member of my parents' generation was a doctor, old dtyle GP. He had a private practice and privileges at the local small hospital. He was well off, as most doctors end up, but he accepted potatoes for payment during the depression when people couldn't pay his bill. Now doctors won't even see you if you don't have insurance, because the cost is so out of control.

   And I don't believe that health care is a "human right". We are reponsibile for ourselves. Our rights are "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness" NOT health care that that is corrupt, overpriced, and ineffectice, for which other people pay. There is n such thing as "government money", only "our money". And we need to be responsible for ourselves.
