This Is Why People Don’t Trust Democrats

Salutations, fellow nerds — I’m Rick Y, and today we’re diving into a story that should’ve been a political no-brainer: no fascists in our government.

Maine Senate candidate Graham Platner was caught with a Totenkopf (SS skull) tattoo — a literal Nazi emblem — and somehow Democrat Ro Khanna is defending him, calling opposition research “politics of personal destruction.”

Let’s be clear: this is hypocrisy at its finest. Opposition research is fine when it’s Trump, but suddenly off-limits when it’s a Democrat? Miss me with that. In this episode, I break down the history of the Totenkopf, Khanna’s double standard, and why the Democratic Party’s moral line keeps getting blurrier.

No. Fing. Fascists.*

👇 Tell me in the comments — should Platner stay in the race, or step down entirely?

  1. You have a principles and I respect that. Bernie has them as well. He may sound like a skipping record but I respect that. I know people that have changed their beliefs but once in a while their old way of thinking comes back to the surface. If this guy held those beliefs they can come back out or they're just below the surface and he hasn't really changed. All I know is he needs to drop out and Democrats need to demand that he does. If they don't they are doing the same as Republicans have done too many times. I fell for Fetternans lie back in 2012 or so and realized who he was a couple of years back and regretted thinking this guy would actually help. I don't trust politicians to begin with so I'm extremely skeptical of those candidates that swear they're going to help the common person. I think that term is a bit condescending like they are better than everyone else. Anyway I'm done with my rant.

  2. Hard disagree on this one. You want 77 yo Janet Mills instead? Platner has been speaking up for working class people better than anyone else I’ve heard in decades, aside from Bernie.

I think you got this one wrong, bub. The guy isn’t a fascist and is being equally criticized for being too much of a socialist for his old Reddit posts.

Susan Collins (R) who holds the senate seat didn’t dig all this up, it was only after Mills entered the race that the neoliberal (let’s face it, deeply embedded with only corporate interests and money) old guard came out with these attacks.

I trust Graham to represent me better than anyone else in a long while.

  3. I've been hemming and hawing on this topic for a day or two now and, you know what, I agree. Been watching several others that raise this as a huge red flag and why is it that we're okay with racist ideology from both sides now? As a latino, watching Bernie Sanders make light of is further instills my reasoning as to why I, and many of POCs, don't vote for him. And watching the left claim Platner is "Bernie 2.0" why trashing AOC for one bad vote is all.. too… fucking… telling…

  4. I’m well aware, as a leftist, that I am going to catch flak for this but this is where I draw my lines. I’m not moving them dependent upon what team approaches. From Sinema to Fetterman, the senate has been poisoned by people we had better expectations of. Yet, we don’t get this handled before the FEC paperwork is signed? We don’t cover it before we make the run official? We don’t try to at least get ahead of something before having to respond to it? We need to be done choosing the lesser of two evils and if going from one old lady to another is the best way to keep fascism and Trojan horses from doing more damage, we may have to take the L on this one.

  5. Pie in the face of fascist (lemon cream-I don't like citrus). Milkshake tossing at fascists (chocolate-stain potential). Even wishes of ill will, but never invite them to the party.

  6. You could just say Amy Klobuchar and Adam Schiffs idea of reaching across the aisle is voting in favor of unapologetic election denying judges

My greatest mistake in life was trusting old people on anything

  7. American politics is exactly what it appears to be…only more so. I doubt if Platner will step down, simply because it's Maine, so he probably still has a respectable chance of winning, although what does it say about him that he was stupid enough to think his dirty laundry wasn't going to be aired? I think if he plays his cards like a true politician. his quaint naivete just might charm the two faces of the local rubes. Schumer and company going after him with their dowager alternative is just more embarrassing US politics as well. I remember the US bicentennial when my favorite political writer, Gore Vidal, said that the decline and fall of the US empire will only last a very small portion of the time it took the Roman Empires'.

  8. Dude I disagree with you on many many many many things but I think you have an excellent Channel. What really really makes you cool though is the fact that you are very much on the left but you are trying to hold the left accountable I 100% stand behind you on that.

  9. The left is imploding. They literally have no platform that the majority of Americans want. What they have on their platform is things that most Americans are violently opposed to. Everything the left wants to do and Achieve is directly related to what the globalist elites want to accomplish. The left has put themselves on the sides of the global Elites. Globalism is a form of Communism that directly supports rich people and nobody else. This is mostly achieved through identity politics, with shaming and blaming everyone.

  10. I've been on earth 43 years and have even seen indiana jones and I wouldn't have recognized it. I didn't know the name of it either. I would have recognized the lightning bolts and the glorified addition symbol. I'm not telling people what to think about it, just exposing my ignorance in public I guess.

  11. I don't know if you saw Platner's interview on Pod Save America where he spoke about the tattoo and his reddit "shitposting", he goes into detail about himself and his beliefs and how he's changed over the years. https://youtu.be/uMnc4ddc7j4?si=EUOY79zVuK2YL8sc It's worth a listen. While I absolutely agree that there shall be no fascists in our government, I'm not so sure that Platner is one or would even be sympathetic to one. Now I know once someone gets in office it's much harder to get them out, however as an intelligent human and being able to change your mind and stance on things when factual evidence is provided, maybe he's worth a second look. Also I can change my mind too, I'm not a vet nor am I from Maine, but I have been a dumb kid that held dumb beliefs that I no longer hold and am embarrassed to admit I held. I would go to the ends of the earth to prove that I no longer hold those beliefs and am not that person I once was.

Folks on the left have a tendency to let perfection ruin progress, and we have also been burned like you said by Sinema and Fetterman, so I'm with you there. On top of that constantly being in the position of voting for the lesser evil or only voting to vote against someone just plain sucks. Cheers and I totally dig the content, keep sharing!

  12. This one should not be tough to handle mentally. He's got the tat, it's stupid and he should drop out.

That being said, why can't I drop it? It's like on some level, I want to push the "youthful indescretion" button and move on? Maybe because I was a slayer fan even though I'd never support what JH carried on his instrument?

End of the day, you are correct, I just need to come around.
